At one time, Halloween was known as the day to celebrate the dead and was called All Saint's Day or All Hallows Eve. Halloween has been a part of our history for over 2,000 years. This celebration has changed over the years bringing different meanings and traditions to what we now celebrate in the fall at the end of October.
This is a time of year when the leaves change to spectacular colors and fall to the ground making hours of play for everyone. The harvesting of the fields is done and the bright pumpkins and gourds are used to make weird faces and unique displays. Stuffing scarecrows and turning the yard into a make believe, scary and haunted place is only the beginning of this festive fun. Deciding on a great costume to scare your friends and neighbors (by using your own design and imagination) is always exciting. Of course, you can always simply buy a costume already made that meets your style.
After the decorations and the perfect costume is selected, it is time to gather friends together to see how much you can scare each other with silly tricks and chilling stories. And, of course, the best is yet to come. Going trick or treating to get as much candy as you can carry is what most children associate with Halloween. Knocking on the neighbors doors and scaring them for loads of candy ends the night with plenty of goodies and lifelong memories of Halloween.
