Limoges is a term used for porcelain that was produced in a region around the town of Limoges, France. It is not a particular company. Some of the most collectible pieces were produced from the 1880's to 1915, which was the Art Nouveau Period. These were hand painted with delicate flowers, such as roses, violets and forget-me-nots. Soft pastel colors and unique shapes add to the feminine appeal. Some of the more expensive pieces had feet and edges that were decorated with glided gold. They were all very detailed and very intricate.
A vanity set would usually include several pieces that were used by the woman on a daily basis. These included a tray, talcum shaker, vanity box, button box, perfume bottle and hair receiver. It could, also, include little trinket boxes, ring holders and candlesticks.
